Mr. James “Jim” Woodson Allen Jr.

Mr. James “Jim” Woodson Allen, Jr. age, 73, of Leesburg, AL passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Jim was born on September 21, 1948, in Pittsburgh, PA to his parents: James Woodson Allen, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Allen.

He grew up and spent most of his life in the Forest Park, GA area and Leesburg, AL. Mr. Allen owned and operated First Coast Logistics of Alabama.

Jim loved gambling, football, and wrestling and was a proud United States Navy Veteran.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Godfather, uncle, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Kay Taylor, and his sister, Beverly Corso.

Mr. Allen is survived by his loving children: Pamela Allen (Danny Hays), Gary Taylor; 5 grandchildren: Tamara Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, Cody Lockhart, Danielle Hays, and Alyssa Hays; 8 great-grandchildren: Sammy, Frankie, Thomas, Traylon, Maliyah, Alayna, Connor, and Destiny; one great-grandchild on the way, Zepplynn; God son, Chase Hunter; a number of loving nieces and nephews and his special dog, Bear.

Memorial Services for Mr. Allen will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Marcus Bailey officiating and Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard providing military rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.

The family of Mr. Allen would like to extend a special thank you to all the medical staff who provided and took such great care of Jim. Including: UAB Hospital doctors, nurses and staff; Gadsden Regional Hospital doctors, nurses and staff; Comfort Care Hospice doctors, nurses and staff and Gadsden Regional Cancer Center doctors, nurses and staff.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James “Jim” Woodson Allen, Jr.
