Mr. James Edge

Mr. James Vince Edge, age 88, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020.  He was born on October 8, 1932 in Rome.  He was the son of the late Joseph Newton and Elgin Smith Edge.

James served his country in the United States Navy.  James was an active member and Deacon of the Lake Creek Baptist Church.

James was a superb mechanic.  He worked for years at the local Ford Motor Company and later at Al Brooks Chevrolet.  James “retired” and took his skill set to Berry College.  At Berry, James continued to excel and became a supervisor in the maintenance department until officially retiring.  Family and friends however, had other ideas and kept James plenty busy with vehicles and other things that needed repairs.

James was an accomplished hunter.  Many trips out west with “younger” hunting partners Dr. Barry Carr and Rev. Wayne Benefield kept them fit as they tried to keep up with James.  James was genuine, generous and loving.  You could not help but feel it if James was your friend.

Mr. Edge is survived by his wife, Frances Foster Edge; son, David Bradley Edge; sisters, Virginia Williams (Henry) and Anne Smith; and a number of nephews.

Mr. Edge is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Ruth Naegele and Edna Taylor.
