Mr. Allan Junior “Frog” Thornton, age 73 of Aragon, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
Mr. Thornton was born October 7, 1948 in Floyd County, son of the late Guy W. Thornton and the late Lillian Forsyth Thornton. He was a 1966 graduate of Tyner High School of Chattanooga, TN and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Thornton was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from the Department of Transportation with 30+ years. He loved fishing, hunting and showing horses with his brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Libby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audie Hobbs Thornton; and a brother, Barry Ray Thornton.
Survivors include his brother, Eddie Wayne Thornton and his wife Libby of Rockmart; and two nieces, Pamela Thornton and Rosa Thornton both of Rockmart.
Funeral services for Mr. Thornton will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Parris officiating. Interment service will follow in the church cemetery with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday prior to the funeral service from 12 noon until the service hour.
