Michael Joe Eden, age 67, of Cedartown, passed away suddenly at home on Friday March 3, 2023.
Mike was born on January 17, 1956 in Ft. McClellan, AL. A native of Atalla, AL, he moved to Georgia as a young boy and made Esom Hill and Cedartown his home.
He graduated from Cedartown High School in 1974 and studied Criminal Justice at Jacksonville State University before becoming a patrol officer and Sergeant for the City of Heflin, AL.
He went on to become a Deputy for the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department. In 1986, Mike joined the Georgia State Patrol, starting as a radio operator, and later a Trooper, in Madison. Over his 20 year career with GSP, he served in Cartersville, Cedartown, and Rome and retired as a Sergeant in 2006.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Janna Pollard Eden, and their son, Cody Michael Eden of Denver, CO. Mike and Janna were married for nearly 33 years. He is also survived by his brother Phillip Erwin, niece Elizabeth Erwin, nephew Josh Erwin, and his fur buddy and best friend Jackson. Other extended family includes brother-in-law Van Pollard (Mary), nieces and nephews Lisa Robinson (Alex), Jessi Weatherspoon (Chad), Lea Weatherspoon and sister-in-law Gail Pollard. He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Erwin, step-father Sammy Erwin, father, Billy Joe Eden, and his grandmother, Lessie Erwin, with whom he shared a very special bond.
Since retirement, Mike has kept busy with his hobbies of repairing and refinishing guns, metal detecting, and his favorite pastime of going to flea markets, where he made many good friends over the years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home in Cedartown, with the funeral service to follow in the Chapel of the funeral home.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Mike’s friends at West Georgia Flea Market, and all active and retired Georgia State Patrol personnel. In accordance with Mike’s wishes, he will be cremated after the service.
