Mattie Sue Morgan, age 87, passed away on May 3, 2023 at The Gardens of Rome, after an extended illness.
Ms. Morgan was born February 19, 1936 in Cedartown, Georgia , to parents Mozelle Godwin Shiflett and Frank Marion Shiflett.
Mattie Sue attended Cedartown High School class of 1954. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping, fishing, and spending time with family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hoschton, Georgia. When her health allowed, she attended Victory Baptist after moving back to Cedartown in 2016.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Lonnie Lewis Morgan, Jr. 2 sisters, Frances Shiflett Galloway, and Bobbie Shiflett Elder, and grandson Kristopher Rowland.
Surviving are daughters, Cindy Easterwood, Cedartown, Lynn Moon (Dennis), Winder, Ga., Lisa Rowland, Lilburn, Ga., and son Lonnie Lewis Morgan, III, of Braselton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jamie Moon, Nicholas Moon, Wil Easterwood, Wes Easterwood, Taylor Morgan, and Tiffany Morgan Free and 13 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Family will receive friends at Gammage Funeral Home at 12 noon with service to follow in the chapel at 2pm. with Chaplin Michael Westmoreland of Trinity Hospice and Pastor Barry Snapp officiating. Interment will be at Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers include Jamie Moon, Nicholas Moon, Wil Easterwood, Wes Easterwood, Taylor Morgan, and Tyler Free.
Honorary pallbearers include Pacey Moon, Peyton Moon, the Staff of The Gardens of Rome, and Trinity Hospice.
