Mr. Mark Steven Reid

Mr. Mark Steven Reid, age 55, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Friday, 2023.

Mark was born July 10, 1967, in Nagasaki, Japan, son of the late Billie Wayne Reid and Sandra Sue Hollen Reid.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the communication division. Mark was the founder of Power Distribution Maintenance, an electrical testing company that has grown to be a multi-state operation and the largest subcontractor for two largest electrical manufacturers in the world.

He enjoyed farming, would go fishing often, and loved antique and vintage cars.

Mark loved his family. Victoria writes:

“My dad was a great, magnetic person that effortlessly drew others to him. When he was in the room, you knew. Through his goofy mannerisms and unmatched brand of humor, he kept people laughing. As a child he loved being outside, taking everything that he could from life. As an adult he was no different. He relished the freedom and peace that came with being in nature, and it was rare a time when he wasn’t outside. His selflessness was shown through his service to his country, his endless love for his siblings, four children and his high school sweetheart, Michelle. His legacy will always reflect these same things: selflessness, compassion, and love. We are so fortunate to be able to have had him in our lives. Although his passing has left a deep pit in our lives, we are more than privileged to have shared our world with him.”

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Michelle Hovey Reid; children, Thomas Reid, Victoria Reid, Rachel Reid Kelley and her husband, Lee Kelley, and Sarah Reid; siblings, Cindy Reid Walker and her husband, Steve Walker of Apex, NC, Billie Wayne Reid, Jr. of Pueblo West, CO, and Jeffrey Lynn Reid and his wife, Carolyn Grier Reid of Centerville, GA, along with two nieces and one nephew; step-mother, Shirley Watson Reid step-siblings, Andy and Sherry McReynolds, Bobbie Sellers, and Doug and Kathy Opitz, all of Warner Robbins, GA, along with several nieces and nephews.

Mark’s family will receive friends at their residence, 1625 Old Cedartown Road, Rockmart, on Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2023, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the gathering, Military Rites will be conferred by the Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mark’s honor to Winship cancer Institute or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The staff of Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mark Steven Reid.
