Many to return back to business on Dec. 26

Expect city halls, the county offices, courts, and local front offices for public safety organizations around Polk County to close their doors ahead of the opening of the holiday week, and return back to normal business before year’s end.

Among those already announcing their closings this week include the City of Cedartown, City of Rockmart, Polk County’s offices for local government, and the front office for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement and public safety officials who are required to work during the Christmas holiday will still be on staff over the coming days. Courthouses additionally are following the county holiday schedule.

The closures begin with the Sheriff’s Office on Monday, December 23. County offices will also be closed beginning on Monday through the holiday week. They’ll be back to work on Thursday, December 26.

The City of Cedartown will be closed from Dec. 24 through Dec. 26.

The City of Rockmart is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will be working on Monday, Dec. 23 and Thursday, Dec. 26.

Schedules for trash services for Cedartown and Rockmart residents may be impacted by city closures, but information had not yet been shared with Polk Today.

Aragon will closing for the holidays early on Monday, but the office will be open on Dec. 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’ll be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Trash service will be the same.

Business closures

MOST businesses and restaurants will be closed this coming week, or closing early for the holidays. Expect reduced hours or closings at fast food chains, drug stores, grocery stores and big box stores (Walmart and Dollar General, for instance) for Christmas Day, and early closures on Christmas Eve.

(There would be too many to list at this point for me to include everyone… Check out your favorite locale in person or on Facebook over the weekend to find out more about holiday closures.)
