Earth Day is coming up in late April, and a cleanup and electronics recycling event is being planned by Keep Polk Beautiful the Saturday just after the holiday celebrating and raising awareness around our environment.

Keep Polk Beautiful is planning to hold the Great American Cleanup day on Saturday, April 24 in Rockmart starting at 8 a.m. Volunteers will be gathering in Seaborn Jones Park to go around and perform cleanup and maintenance duties along the Silver Comet Trail and around the Rockmart area.

Additionally, Fenley TV and Keep Polk Beautiful are teaming up to provide an Electronics Recycling Day in Cedartown starting at 8 a.m. and continue through 12 p.m.

Fenley TV is located at 549 1/2 West Ave., Cedartown.

All electronics can be recycled during the event except for CRT monitors and televisions. They will accept items like broken flatscreens, computers, old phones and like items around the home that can be recycled for their component materials.

Earth Day 2021 is being celebrated on Thursday, April 22. The holiday is meant to raise awareness of the need for a cleaner environment and was first recognized on the calendar in 1970.
