Mr. Jimmy Wright

Mr. Jimmy Wright, 87, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd. 

Born in Cedartown on November 29, 1937, he was the son of the late J.L. Wright and Mozelle Collins Wright. 

Jimmy was a devout Christian and enjoyed raising a family of three boys along with his wife. He was also a grandfather to multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Jimmy loved the Lord and enjoyed singing Gospel hymns with his wife Anne in church, often times traveling to different churches in the area along with many nursing homes.

He was a member and former deacon of Pine Bower Baptist Church. 

Jimmy was a member of the Georgia National Guard for ten years. He was employed with WGAA radio station for seventeen years as News Director, followed by a twenty-eight-year career as Utilities Director with the City of Cedartown. 

Mr. Wright is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Jerry Wright; and a sister, Janice Wright Bowen. 

Mr. Wright is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Mrs. Anne Jones Wright; sons: Jimmy Morris Wright and his wife, Brenda, William Lamar Wright and his wife, Jan, and Tony Wright and his wife, Laura. 

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jimmy Wright will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM, with Mr. Trey Wright and Reverend Jason Loudermilk officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Mr. Wright’s family will receive friends, also on Sunday at the funeral home, from 1:30 PM until the service hour. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jim Wright, Jr., Travis Walker, Mark Oxenrider, Matt Stone, Cason Bedford, Mark Parkinson, Trent Wright, and Morris Collins.
