Mr. Jimmy Clyde Carter, Sr., age 72, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Saturday evening, May 27, 2023, following an extended illness.

Mr. Carter was born on May 2, 1951, in Oxford, Alabama, the son of the late James Carter and the late Emma Moon Carter.

He had worked for Lindale Manufacturing for over 30 years until its closure. He then worked for Rome Plow for over ten years. He loved tinkering and working on anything with a motor, especially cars and trucks. He loved being outdoors in his garden or yard, where he always was accompanied by his fur babies, Action and Cookie.

He was a family man that adored his family, especially his three grandchildren and his great-grandbaby, and he loved to hear them call him “Pawpaw.” Pawpaw’s house was another home to them.

Mr. Carter was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and during his illness, he couldn’t wait until Sunday so he could watch his church on Facebook.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Carter Miller, and Linda Carter Barber; his brother, Kenneth Carter and special niece/sister, Judy Reagan.

Jimmy is survived by his loving family, his daughter, and son-in-law, Michelle Shelton & David; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Carter, Jr & Monica; his grandchildren, Kaylyn Clark & Justin, Carson Shelton and Paisley Carter; his great-granddaughter, Emmie Caroline Clark; sister, Patricia George; special niece/sister, Connie Bennett. A number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, May 31, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jimmy Carter will be conducted on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, at 1:00 pm from Faith Baptist Church, with his daughter Michelle delivering the eulogy and Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. He will lie in state at the Church from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in the North View Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers: Carson Shelton, Chaz Shelton, Braden Shelton, J.T. Rayburn, Brad Shelton, and Doug Atkins.

The family wishes to thank Autumn Couch, Michelle Patton, Angie Bettis, Jackie Aspera, and Connie Bonds of Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful, excellent care and love they showed and provided for their Dad/Pawpaw over the past several months.
