Mr. James Wesley “Jim” Freeman

Mr. James Wesley “Jim” Freeman, age 78 of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

He was born February 6, 1944 in Etowah County, Alabama, son of the late Clifton Monroe Freeman and the late Hazel Foster Freeman.

He was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School of Altoona, Alabama, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Freeman was a carpenter having been owner and operator of J. Freeman Builders and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart where he served as the church pianist. He enjoyed fishing, Alabama football, and loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Peggy Bailey Freeman of Rockmart, to whom he was married May 8, 1970; three daughters and sons-in-law, Candi and Timmy Montgomery, Robin and Jonathan Haney and Donna and Eric Morgan all of Rockmart; two sons and daughter-in-law, Chad and Kristie Freeman of Gadsden, Alabama and Jeff Winslett of Aragon; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Freeman will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment service will follow in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Second Baptist Church, 112 S. Piedmont Ave., Rockmart, GA 30153 in memory of Mr. Freeman.
