Mr. James Lewis “Jim” Baldwin Sr.

Mr. James Lewis “Jim” Baldwin, Sr., age 90, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, in a Rome hospital.

Mr. Baldwin was born in Fish Creek, GA, on March 18, 1932, son of the late Julius Lonzo Baldwin and Eula May Carmichael Baldwin.

He was a member of World View Baptist Church and had retired from Hon Industries.

Mr. Baldwin was a 20 year retired veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean war and Vietnam War. He loved all sports, even played football in high school, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Mr. Baldwin enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Lewis Baldwin, Jr., three brothers, Paul, Jack and Buddy Baldwin, and three sisters, Willene Cook, Ann Summerville, and Mary Lloyd.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Madge Martin Baldwin, whom he married March 9, 1953; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Baldwin of Port St. Lucie, FL, Bobbi and John Butcher of Ocean Springs MS, and Lori and Bryan Cole of Cedartown; one son, Terry Baldwin of Melbourne, FL. Thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Baldwin will be Friday afternoon, April 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley and Rev. Dr. Larry Conner officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with military rites.

Mr. Baldwin’s family will receive friends at Smith & Miller Funeral Home Friday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Greg Hiett, Connor Cole, Neil Standridge, Ben Miller, Russ Miller and J.J. Butcher.
