Mr. James Fredrick “Jimmy” Woods, age 60 of Taylorsville, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022.
He was born September 28, 1961 in Rome, son of the late James Forrest Woods, Jr. and the late Ruth Williams Woods. He was a 1979 graduate of Cartersville High School. After graduation, he attended Reinhardt University for two years.
For the past 38 years, he had been employed by the Georgia Power Company where he was currently a substation operator. He enjoyed gardening and beekeeping, loved to read and travel, and was of the Baptist faith. His greatest love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Tyler Woods.
Survivors include his wife, Malinda Leggett Woods of Taylorsville; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Aubrey Caverly of Taylorsville; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Mitchell Peak of Cartersville; and two grandchildren, Brooks Caverly and Livi Caverly.
Funeral services for Mr. Woods will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Miller and Rev. Tommy Harris officiating. Interment service will follow in the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Parris Hitchcock, John Larkin, Jacob Larkin, Nick Larkin, Aubrey Caverly, Robbie Caverly and Steve Massey.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Georgia Power Company.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, August 18, 2022, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.
