Mr. Hoyt Lanier, age 62, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday evening, September 11, 2022, at his dad’s home.
Hoyt was born in Rome, GA, on September 3, 1960, son of George Lanier and the late Iva Ruth Waters Lanier. He had lived all his life in Rockmart and was an electrician with Georgia Power Company, retiring after 41 years of service. Hoyt was a member of the Taylorsville Baptist Church. He loved playing golf and had been playing since he was a young boy.
In addition to his mother, Hoyt was preceded in death by a brother, David Harold Lanier, and a niece, Katie Marie Lanier.
Hoyt is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Tina Deems Lanier, whom he married April 17, 1980; daughter, Melissa Joel Lanier of Jasper, GA; father, George Lanier of Rockmart; brother, Hugh Lanier of Camilla, GA; nephews, David (Holly) Lanier, Brad (April) Lanier, Jay Lanier; niece, Whitney (Brooke) Waites. Several great-nieces also survive.
Funeral services for Hoyt will be Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Nigel Campbell and David Edge delivering eulogies. Interment will follow in Taylorsville Cemetery.
Hoyt’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include: David Lanier, Brad Lanier, David Edge, Mark Pinkerton, Josh Eaves, and Wade Clemons. Georgia Power employees and his golfing buddies will be honorary pallbearers.
