Rockmart’s annual celebration of all things local returns tomorrow to the downtown area with several happenings surrounding Homespun 2024.
Organized by Rockmart’s Downtown Development Authority, the event is expected to feature dozens of vendors, the annual parade through downtown, a road race, car show and much more.
Here’s some happenings around the 44th edition of Homespun in downtown Rockmart on Saturday, October 5:
Running for a Paws 5K – This annual fundraiser organized by the Rockmart Police Department is raising funds for their K-9 program, providing food, equipment, training and veterinary bills for K-9 Officer Gena. Race begins at 8 a.m., signups are available during registration prior to the race’s start. (I.e. – get out early if you didn’t sign up already.)
Homespun 2024 Parade – Find a spot on South Marble Street and get ready to celebrate all things local with the annual Homespun Parade! It begins at 10 a.m. in downtown.
Vendors, Children’s Village & More – Stop in the area around Seaborn Jones Park and find opportunities aplenty for the entire family. More than 40 vendors are participating this year with a variety of products being offered up – including homemade crafts and gifts – and a children’s village for youth has areas for kids to play during the festival. Sales & more open at 10 a.m.
Kiwanis Car Show – The Rockmart Kiwanis Club hosts the car show during Homespun annually as a fundraiser for the organization. Proceeds are donated back into the community. The car show opens with registration from 9 a.m. to noon. Judging begins after, and awards are handed out at 1:30 p.m. $25 per vehicle participating.
Museum Tours – The Rockmart History Museum will be open for tours during the event. Make sure to stop by during the day and check out improvements to the collection over the past year and learn about the storied past of the Rock Market of the Southeast.
Music – Isaac Streetman is taking the stage late in the afternoon and is among several who will be performing during Saturday’s event. Check him out at 4 p.m.
Movie Night – Last year’s event wrapped with a concert from Hometown star Dalton Dover, and this year the city is getting out their big screen for a show that all ages can enjoy. The Disney live-action Halloween classic Hocus Pocus is being shown. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for families to find a spot at Seaborn Jones Park for the showing, which will begin after dark. No Coolers, outside food or drink, pets or smoking is allowed during the event.
