An educator working in Paulding County but living here in Polk was honored in recent days for her service to children in classrooms over the past academic year.
Dr. Jane Hamlett was named the Paulding County School District’s Middle School Counselor of the Year for 2023 last week.
Dr. Hamlett, who serves as lead counselor for Carl Scoggins Sr. Middle School in the area south of Yorkville, was honored by the district last week for her work.
The District posted online that “We appreciate her hard work and dedication to students at Scoggins Middle! Congratulations!!!”
Many will remember Dr. Hamlett from her previous service as a Board of Education member her in Polk County.
However during those three terms on our board and after, she’s continuously served as an educator in the Paulding County School District for 18 years. Prior to that she served for a decade in the Haralson County School District as well.
She holds degrees from Shorter, Jacksonville State University, and the University of Alabama including a doctorate in Education.
Dr. Hamlett continues to reside in Cedartown with her family, and is active in organizations like the Cedartown Exchange Club.
