The Georgia State Patrol confirmed with Polk Today that a Floyd County man who had been missing since mid-December was found dead on the side of Highway 27 North in Polk County on Monday afternoon.

GSP’s Special Collision Reconstruction Team was called in to investigate the death of 28-year-old Sharad Robinson, who is believed to have died on December 18 – the same day he was reported missing.

Officials noted that his remains were discovered along Highway 27 in an area that wouldn’t have been visible by drivers under ordinary conditions.

Thus far, GSP has reported that they believed that Robinson was walking south on eastbound shoulder (heading north) when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, which then fled the scene after the incident. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was called into help with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Polk County Police Department at 770-748-7331, Floyd County Police at 706-235-7766, or the GSP at 404-624-7700.
