Gary J. Melton of Cave Spring, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10.
He was born January 7, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama. He was the son of the late Ruby and Woodrow Melton.
Gary is survived by his wife, Faye Downey Melton; daughters, Gerri (Bobby) Druckemiller, Selena (Kevin) Mobbs, Mary Ann Payton, Mary Beth Melton; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Judy (Jimmy) Cook of Cedartown, June (Phil) Lassiter, Dale (Judy) Melton, Gabriel (Eve) Melton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughters Lisa Kay (Jeff) Willis and Emma Laura Melton Palacios.
An active community member, Gary contributed countless hours to his church and civic organizations of which he was a member. Gary was an avid bird hunter, a gentleman farmer, and owned and rehabilitated homes in the area.
Services will be held at Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, with visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. and memorial service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gary’s memory to the Jackson Chapel Cemetery or Mountain Home Baptist Church.
