Mr. Francis Marion “Butch” Thompson, age 76, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Thompson was born in Spartanburg, SC on January 6, 1947, a son of the late Jesse Edwin Thompson and the late Katherine Lucil McAbee Thompson.
Butch was a veteran of the United States Army serving our country during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Davitte Lodge #513 F&AM and was of the Baptist faith.
Butch built sub-stations for Georgia Power and was co-owner of Tri-State-Structures where he was a welder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Melba Hansel and half-sister, Linda Nelms.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Jane Booz Thompson, to whom he was married on March 3, 1972; and his son, Jason Travis Thompson.
Memorial arrangements for Mr. Thompson are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory.
