Chubb forming new org to help mom’s who suffer loss due to SIDS

Annual walk coming up in October

The work to help mom’s like herself continues for Neidra Chubb, and an event coming up in April gives a new organization Mom’s United the opportunity to bring together people to enjoy good food and raise awareness over Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Mark those calendars for Saturday, April 22, 2023 and head to downtown Cedartown for the first-ever Mom’s United Food Truck Festival. It’ll be held in the Stubbs Street parking lot behind Main Street in downtown Cedartown from 4 to 8 p.m.

The kid-friendly event is set to bring together food truck vendors from around the area, and the city gave their permission to shut down the alleyway behind Cedar Valley Chops through to Ideal Bakery in order to accommodate the crowd.

Chubb explained to the Cedartown City Commission during their Monday work session the goal was to provide an opportunity to not just gather and raise money for a good cause, but to ensure the community has a greater awareness of the loss that parents suffer when their child passes unexpectedly due to SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

The upcoming event in April already has partnerships established with Smith and Miller Funeral Home here in Cedartown, Mike Epps Funeral Home in Cartersville and Atrium Health Floyd.

“With those funeral homes, we’ll be partnering with families to give money to family members in need in time of grief,” she said. “With the hospital, we are wanting to have grief groups as well.”

An additional partnership has been formed with the NFL’s in doing My Cause, My Cleats, and drives have been held to collect diapers and give out baskets, and teddy bears to mom’s in grief.

Cocktails via Cedar Valley Chops will be available, but a wristband to participate will cost an additional $5 for the 21-and-0ver crowd.

Chubb is seeking out those who are interested in taking part, and organizations or businesses who want to reach out can find her at neidrachubb21.nc@gmail.com, or find her on the Facebook page.

During Monday’s work session for the City Commission, Chubb also asked for permission to carry on with the annual SIDS Walk in late October. They also gave unanimous approval to the request, pending approval from the state DOT to shut down Main Street for several hours to also provide vendors a chance to setup after around the Holloway Park area.
