Doyle Donald Broome Sr.

Doyle Donald Broome Sr., age 88, passed away on October 5, 2022.

He was born on September 1, 1934, in Cedartown, Georgia and was the son of the late Robert Corneleus Broome and Janie Dawson Broome.

Mr. Broome is survived by his wife of 68 years Marcelle Vincent Broome, son, Doyle Donald Broome Jr. (Donna), son, Vincent Barry Broome (Cathy); grandchildren: Trey Broome (Betsy), David Broome, Danielle Barr (Sam), Sara Hulsey (Kris), Anna Holcomb (Jimmy), and great grandchildren Parker, Sawyer, and Ellary Broome, Ellary Theory, Pax and Prairie Barr, Zoey and Wyatt Holcomb, and Julian Hulsey.

Mr. Broome was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: brothers, Clifford, James, J.T., Charles and Bobby Broome and his sisters, Gertrude Houge, Dorothy Broome-Curry, Elizabeth Shiflett, Mary Jane Maxwell, and Sadie Liner.

Mr. Broome was a 32 year retired Georgia State Trooper having reached the rank of Captain. He was a 2 term Vice-President, and a 2 term President of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. He was a previous member of the Exchange Club, a member of First Baptist Church of Cedartown and also a Mason and a Shriner.

Mr. Broome loved his family and was always happy to tell anyone about his sons and their outstanding military careers.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 5-7pm at Smith Miller Funeral Home in Cedartown.

In keeping with his wishes there will be a private graveside interment service with Mr. Bill Lundy officiating at Northview Cemetery with the honorary pallbearers being Dewayne Broome, Al Wilson, Steve Shiflett, Chuck Broome, Johnny Rampley, David Lindsey, Phil Akins, and Ronnie Dingler.

Flowers will be accepted and or donations to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mr. Doyle Broome, Sr.
