Little Willie McCain

A Rome man known to officers was stopped on Central Street just before the start of the holiday weekend in Cedartown, and officers found more than just warrants out for his arrest according to reports.

Cedartown Police arrested Little Willie McCain, 36, of a Rome address on Friday, February 17, 2023 after he was spotted by a eagle-eyed officer on Central Street around 2:50 p.m.

Per the reports, the officer knew that McCain had warrants out for his arrest. He was spotted with a bookbag. He took that off when stopped by officers, placed it on the hood of the patrol car, and cooperated completely with being detained.

When police searched McCain, they found “several IDs, debit cards and other cards that were not under his name” and the cards were turned over to detectives for further investigation.

Police also found a glass pipe in his pocket with residue inside, but officers did not determine what kind of drug it was.

When they searched the bookbag, they found a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun within that was loaded.

McCain was carried off to the Polk County Jail without further incident on Friday afternoon. He remained in custody with bond denied on all charges including felonies for six counts of financial transaction card fraud and possession of a firearm by convicted felon or first offender.

He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession and use of drug-related objects.
