Smith-Lockwood Pharmacy in Rockmart has been serving the community with a variety of services and products over the years, but as the times keep changing they have stuck around through it all and are looking forward to many more decades to come.

Coming up on February 18, the store officially celebrates their 75th anniversary in business providing everything from cold medicine to a silver choker for an anniversary, all in one place.

During the Tuesday night Rockmart City Council session, Owners Sondi and David Vest joined Mayor Sherman Ross and the City Council as the store was recognized for their longevity in the community, and what they have contributed back as a business to the customers they have served throughout the generations.

The Vest’s were provided a plaque honoring the store’s anniversary during a ceremony at the Council Meeting for February.

“We appreciate Rockmart and Polk County for their support over the years, and we are looking forward to continuing to serve our community in the years to come,
” Sondi Vest said.

Plans for the official anniversary celebration are coming up next Friday, February 18 when the store will invite the public to come take part in giveaways and enjoy light refreshments from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 114 S. Marble St., Rockmart, where they first opened in 1947.

Smith-Lockwood also has a second location at 701-B Hogue Avenue for customers to utilize as well.
