Snow has caused at least two municipal governments in Polk County to decide to delay their openings on Tuesday morning, per officials.

The City of Cedartown will be opening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday coming back from the holiday break. They will determine whether a further delay in opening will be needed as conditions develop.

Polk County administration, tax and court offices will open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning, per information provided by the Polk County Superior Court Clerk’s office.

No plans for a delayed opening are in effect for the City of Rockmart. City Manager Stacey Smith said the area had thus far not seen any major accumulation that could impact morning travel on the eastern side of the county.

The concerns at the moment aren’t for the snow, but the potential for flash freezing of roadways overnight and icy conditions heading into the morning hours.

Temperatures are set to drop down to 24 degrees per the latest forecast.

The NWS updated predictions have snow tapering off from 10 p.m. through 1 a.m., with skies gradually clearing overnight.

Look for snow and ice to melt off tomorrow with a high predicted of 48 for Tuesday.
