Mrs. Charlene H. Turner

Mrs. Charlene H. Turner, age 72, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023, in a Rome, GA, hospital.

Charlene was born in Atlanta, GA, on October 14, 1950, daughter of the late Charles David Helton and the late Martha Josephine Lane Helton. She had lived the greater part of her life in the Silver Creek community and was a 1968 graduate of Pepperell High School and also graduated from the Armstrong Beauty School.

She owned and operated the North Rome Beauty Shop from 1970 to 1982. She then graduated from Coosa Valley Technical College and worked as a medical office assistant in Rome for several years before becoming an administrative secretary with Rome High School from which she retired. Charlene was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Turner whom she was married on May 26, 1973; daughter, Dannielle Duke and her husband Jake; son, Jason Turner; two grandchildren, Laurel Duke and John Duke; two sisters, Faye Cummings and Brenda Chupp and her husband Larry; one brother, David Helton and his wife JoAnn. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Minister Michael Farris and Elders Steve Murdock and Ron Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Robert Cummings, Denny Cummings, Zack Cummings, Phillip Helton, Billy Floyd, Ryan Helton and Michael White.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd, Rome, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
