After a long career in the Public Works department wrapped up on Monday, a new man is on the job as the department’s leader today.

Kelvin Garmon’s time with the City of Cedartown came to an official close on January 31 after 38 years on the job, and the city announced on social media this morning the choice for the man filling those shoes.

Matthew Wray, who had already been in the department for more than half the past decade, was appointed to take over the role.

From the City of Cedartown:

Happy Tuesday morning to you, Cedartown!

We wanted to take a minute to introduce you to our newly appointed public works director, Matthew Wray. Matthew was selected to take over management of the department and fills the role of recently retired public works director Kelvin Garmon.

Matthew is a familiar face around City Hall and Cedartown. He’s been working in various capacities in our public works department for almost seven years. A former CHS Bulldog (Class of 2002), Matthew grew up in Cedartown. He understands the importance of his role and the public works department as a whole, and is looking forward to keeping the City’s operations running smoothly.

Cheers and congratulations to Matthew Wray! You’ll do a most excellent job!
