The rain still hasn’t totally stopped in Polk County this evening as another stormy day brought with it another soaking and filled up Cedar Creek in downtown Cedartown. Big Spring Park was also underwater this evening due to the rainfall that has pushed through and increased water levels all across Northwest Georgia.

Polk County was under a flash flood warning earlier in the day, and a flash flood watch that was in effect ran out at 8:15 p.m.

No damage has yet been reported from today’s wet weather and storms that pushed through ahead of a cold front, which has brought with it chilly temperatures. The thermometer is set to drop to 33 overnight, with 20 mph wind gusts possible behind the showers and the potential for another thunderstorm before 11 p.m.

Tomorrow Polk will have a chance to dry out some, but expect a high of only 53 on the day. Thursday night the temperature is set to drop to 27 per the National Weather Service forecast.
