On Tuesday, Cedartown will be welcoming more than a thousand cyclists who are pedaling through the area and city officials are asking local residents and drivers to take extra caution on the road while the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) visits Polk County.

BRAG is expected to bring 1,000 cyclists to Cedartown on Tuesday, June 8 and they will be using several of the roadways throughout the city as part of their route across the state.

“We are asking residents to use extra caution from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. when driving,” the city released in a statement this morning. “Please watch for cyclists and share the road.”

Those roadways being utilized include Cave Spring Road, John Hand Road, College Street, South Main Street, Cason Road, and Cobb Mountain Road.

The ride started this past Saturday on Lookout Mountain with a visit to Rock City Gardens, continued Sunday through LaFayette, and will reach Cave Spring today. Tuesday’s ride brings cyclists through Cedartown on their way to Carrollton. On Thursday, the ride continues to Senoia, then onward to LaGrange.

The final leg will take riders from LaGrange to Columbus this coming Saturday.
