Mr. Billy E. Morris

Mr. Billy Eugene Morris, age 74, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, September 20, 2022, in a Rome hospital.

Billy was born in Rome on February 14, 1948, son of the late Cecil Morris and Ivanette Popham Morris. He had lived the greater part of his life in Taylorsville, was of the Baptist faith, and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Billy retired from Georgia Power Company after 30 years of service. He loved playing basketball and golf and enjoyed fishing. Billy was a big University of Georgia fan.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death on November 12, 2019, by his loving wife, Betty Roberson Morris, whom he married November 12, 1966. A great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace Baines, also preceded him.

Billy is survived by three daughters, Kisha Morris of Taylorsville, Cecillia Robinson of Aragon, GA, and Carla (Shane) Morris; nine grandchildren, Don (Brittany) Baines, Brenna (Steven) Miller, Shyla Baines, Morrisia (Aubrey) Thaxton, Malaki Shirah, Rainn Shirah, Grant Morris, Shane Ingram, and Sharla Ingram; six great-grandchildren, Britton Grace Baines, Weston Baines, Ella Shae Miller, Max Miller, Georgia-Mae Robinson, and Emory Thaxton. A sister, Saundra Broadaway of Rome, two brothers, Phillip (Brenda) Morris of Cartersville, and Cecil B. (Diane) Morris, II, of Cartersville, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Billy will be held on Friday afternoon, September 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gilbert Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.

Billy’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday evening, September 22, 202, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Don Baines, Grant Morris, Shane Ingram, Roy Robinson, Shane Ingram, Jr., Malaki Shirah, and Rainn Shirah.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Billy Eugene Morris.
