Mrs. Betty Pierce Smith, age 78, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023, in a Rome, GA, hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born in Rockmart on March 2, 1944, a daughter of the late Hobart Pierce and Mary Gaines Pierce.
She had lived the greater part of the life in Rockmart and was a longtime member of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed cross-stitching and was a master of decorating cakes. She also loved to make candies for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, DeJuana Faye Smith, and a brother, Richard Pierce.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Tonya Smith of Dallas, GA; granddaughter, Mauri Burnette and her husband, Alex, of Marietta, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Strickland of Rockmart, Linda and Cecil Reddish of Cedartown, GA, June and Homer Hubbard of Huntsville, AL, and Jackie and Dennis Newby of Rome; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Janice Pierce of Rockmart. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Corey Forsyth and Rev. Marty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday evening, February 17, 2023, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
