
Mrs. Amy “Paddy” Phillips, age 91, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Mrs. Phillips was born on October 24, 1933, daughter of the late Jack Austin and Eula Tomlin Austin.
She had lived all her life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School where she was a member of the Rockmart High School Marching Band.
Mrs. Phillips was a faithful member of the Rockmart Second Baptist Church and had retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 35 years of service.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cross stitching, and was an excellent baker.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Phillips, whom she married February 18, 1955; a son, Zachary Phillips, brothers, Stanley Austin, Kenneth Austin, Dean Austin and Gene Austin, sisters, Paulene Noland and Barbara Gore.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by a daughter, Kitzi (David) Underhill; eight grandchildren, Whitney (Sean) Harkins, Meagan (Brandon) Jernigan, Amy Underhill, Scott (Shena) Phillips, Austin (Janna) Phillips, Misty (Joey) Rinehart, Mark (Abby) Rinehart, and Kristy (Ben) Helton. Twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be held on Monday afternoon, December 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Rockmart Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Phillips’ family will receive friends at the church Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Jeff Austin, Barry Gore, Brandon Woods, Hunter Harkins, Greg Austin, Dustin Noland, and Zachary Jernigan. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry McDurmon, Harold McDurmon, John Purser, Steve Turner, Benjamin Ozment, and Brian Purser.
